Eye examination

Home  >  Services

Your eye examination will last for approximately 40 minutes to allow time for your optometrist to examine your eyes and vision thoroughly. You will be asked to complete a series of tests during this time which are all designed to assess your eye health and visual status (whether you might be short or long-sighted). None of these tests are difficult or in any way painful but it is important that they are carried out so that your optometrist is able to accurately prescribe any eyewear if this is necessary.

You will also have the opportunity to have retinal photographs taken as part of your examination. Our digital retinal camera allows us to see a much wider section of the back of your eye, which consequently enables a thorough check of your eye health. Many eye conditions, including glaucoma and macular degeneration, can be detected in the very early stages by retinal screening. This in turn allows faster and more effective treatment for you.

Once your examination is complete, your optometrist will explain their findings to you, including any updates to your prescription that might be required. They’ll also be happy to answer any questions you have, as well as taking the time to recommend suitable products for your needs, wants and lifestyle.
